Laurie Hermance-Moore, Accredited Genealogist®
Don’t know much About your Family?
I didn’t either.
My passion for family history came from my own curiosity. It started with a Victorian house my husband and I owned. I had to know who the people were who lived there. That got me hooked. Who would have imagined a wedding in our front parlor in 1912? Or the house’s brief stint as a church in the 1960s?
Success with my house research led me, an adoptee, to search for and find my birth family—which then opened the door to discovering my own lines, along with many stories from the early years of American history. Because it took me fifty years to know who my family is, I figure that’s why I’ve been blessed with especially interesting ancestors who were on the leading edge of westward migration. (My 4th great-grandfather had something to do with the “Lost State of Franklin”.)
